Day 1. Bumthang- Nanglhakhang (Distance: 20 km, time: about 5 hours walk). The trek route follows the Chamkhar Chhu (River). Lunch stop at Tangbi Lhakhang before entering “Swan Land” (Ngang Yul) with its centre “Swan Temple” (Nanglhakhang). This part of the valley was first inhabitated only by Swans (Ngang) from where the name of the place. Overnight in camp at an altitude of 2,800m.
Day 2. Nanglhakhang- Ugyenchholing (Distance: 23km, time: 7 &half hours walk).
Climb gradually to Phephela pass (Altitude- 3,353m), the highest point on the trek route. The trail to the pass leads through one of the most beautiful forested areas of this region. This allows for many stops to enjoy natures beauty. Overnight in camp at an altitude of 2,800m.
Day 3: Ugyenchholing- Jakar/Bumthang (Distance: 10km, time: about two and half hours walk).
The gradually descending trail follows the Tang Chhu, a trout filled river. Along the banks of this river is Tang Rimpoche Lhakhang. From Pangshing, drive to Jakar (Altitude-2,750m). En route to Jakarta, visit Mebar Tso, the burning Lake. Overnight at the hotel in Bumthang.
